Rolling on the River
Put the bar in bargain at The Hudson
Unwind and usher out the workday with inexpensive eats and drinks at The Hudson.

Live tree trunks grow through the floors of the brick-walled dining room. Flatscreen TVs at nearly every vantage give the former train depot a Depression-era sports-bar feel that’s in keeping with its recession-era prices.

Daily deals from 4-7p include $3 drafts, $12 pitchers, $4 well drinks and half-off apps like hot wings, jalapeno mac and cheese, and garlic fries. Same specials apply Sunday through Tuesday during a bonus “late night” happy hour from 11p-2a.

Upgraded pub grub pervades the rest of the reasonably priced menu. Entree standouts include a 12 oz. wood-grilled pork chop with warm apple compote and mashed potatoes, and a sloppy (in the best way) burger topped with sweet caramelized onions and blue cheese.

There's a respectable, if straightforward, beer list, but wines are practically an afterthought. Novel cocktails include The Bullet, a bourbon-vermouth concoction with orange bitters and maple syrup.
